Job Description

Full-time Speech Language Pathologist  in Portland, Oregon

We are seeking an exceptional Full-Time Speech Language Pathologist to help reduce or eliminate speech and language impairments that interfere with the individual student’s ability to benefit from the district’s educational program.

Job Type: Full Time

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

Compensation: $75,000 – $85,000 per year + benefits 

Patient Volume: 7 patients a day or 35 patient visits a week

Job Duties:

  • Evaluate each assigned patient in terms of current or potential problems with speech-language pathology, meeting or exceeding established clinical pathways and protocols for best practice
  • Establishes age-specific plan of care and functional goals based on evaluation results, and regularly incorporates other disciplines, patient/family, into treatment planning, documenting the patient/family/caregiver’s understanding of goals, explaining rationale and methods necessary to carry out treatments
  • Consistently re-evaluates the effectiveness of ongoing treatment plan, instituting appropriate changes in care plan
  • Assesses the educational needs of the patient, family, and caregiver and provides education to meet those needs
  • Participates in clinics, rounds, meetings, in-services, annual competencies, MYR, departmental process improvement projects, and conferences, as assigned.
  • Collaborates and communicates appropriately with families, physicians, other rehabilitation staff, nurse case managers, and others
  • Participates in supervision/instruction of students as assigned. Participates in orientation of new staff and support staff as assigned
  • Supports organizational change initiatives; adapting to a rapidly changing healthcare environment

Requirements:

  • A master’s or clinical doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Valid license to practice speech pathology in the state of Oregon
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association
  • Experience in the evaluation and treatment of individuals with motor speech, language, cognition, voice, and swallowing disorders in an acute care hospital environment
  • Competence in the interpretation of videofluoroscopic swallow studies
  • Familiarity with the use of an electronic medical record system
