This role includes providing care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Responsibilities include performing minor procedures, offering preventive and acute care, and serving as an emergency backup. The physician works collaboratively with Advanced Practice Providers and multidisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care and optimal health outcomes.
Family medicine physicians provide services including injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery during hospitalization. They perform surgical and other procedures as appropriate with experience and competency. The physician prescribes and administers medications, performs routine vaccinations, and provides advice regarding personal health and hygiene.
They request necessary tests, follow-up visits, and refer patients to specialists as necessary. Quality clinical and hospital care must be ensured in a safe, efficient, competent, and effective manner. They prepare records and reports in accordance with established procedures.
Participation in patient care conferences, team conferences, professional staff conferences, and other appropriate professional activities is expected. Optional obstetrics responsibilities may be included. The equipment utilized includes computerized charting with Cerner.
The physician will diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions for patients of all ages. Providing outpatient clinic care, inpatient hospital care, and emergency backup support is crucial. Clear and compassionate communication with patients, families, and members of the care team is essential.
The physician will adhere to protocols for safe medication administration and comply with all regulatory policies. Participation in ongoing education, training, and professional development to maintain and enhance clinical skills is expected. Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and serving as a mentor for colleagues is encouraged.
The physician will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to performance and operations. All age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients, will be served.
