Work Environment

You will work onsite within a correctional facility, providing a structured and safe environment for mental health evaluation and assessment. This facility serves a diverse population with varying mental health needs, and you will be part of a robust team focused on comprehensive patient care. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough diagnostic interviews to assess the mental health status of patients in a correctional facility.
• Select, administer, score, and interpret a variety of psychological tests, providing well-rounded psychological assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and formulate recommendations for therapeutic activities, potentially involving modifications to existing programs to enhance patient care.
• Facilitate both individual and group psychotherapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices such as trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and family counseling strategies.
• Collaborate with medical professionals to discuss mental health findings, ensuring comprehensive care for each patient.
• Document and write detailed reports outlining patient progress, competency, and any modifications to planned treatment.
• Engage in treatment team meetings to discuss patient care strategies and contribute valuable insights from psychological assessments.
• Take part in training programs, serving as a supervisor for graduate trainees and fostering an environment of growth and learning.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations, working closely with fellow healthcare specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
• Initiate, design, and implement psychological research studies or program evaluations to further enhance our service offerings and impact.
• Present on behavioral health topics in community outreach settings to educate and advocate for mental health awareness.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with individuals experiencing a range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, and personality disorders. This role requires not only clinical skill but also an understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals within the correctional system, allowing you to provide targeted interventions that promote rehabilitation and mental well-being.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Psychology or a Doctor of Psychology degree from an accredited institution.
• Current licensing by the New Jersey State Board of Psychologist Examiners with an unblemished record of good standing.
• Avalid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the flexibility to adapt to an evolving environment.

Preferred Experience

• At least two years of relevant experience in a clinical setting, particularly with correctional populations or similar environments.
• Experience with trauma-informed approaches and familiarity with the mental health needs of incarcerated individuals.
• Proven history of conducting psychological evaluations and assessments.

Compensation and Benefits
