The position is based onsite at a local school, fostering an engaging educational environment that promotes both learning and therapeutic intervention. You will collaborate with educators and other health professionals to create a synergy that benefits our patients. The school setting allows you daily interaction with students, parents, and educational staff, ensuring that therapy is integrated into the students' educational experience.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' speech and language abilities to identify specific areas of concern.
Develop and implement tailored intervention plans based on evaluation results, aimed at improving communication skills and overcoming barriers.
Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including articulation therapy, language expansion, and augmentative communication strategies, to facilitate effective learning and progress.
Teaching students’ families about speech and language disorders, fostering an understanding of how to assist with communication development at home.
Work closely with teachers and other healthcare staff to coordinate care, ensuring therapy aligns with educational goals and enhances student performance.
Track and document patient progress meticulously, adjusting treatment plans as necessary based on outcomes and feedback.
Engage in continuous professional development through training, workshops, and educational meetings to remain current in the field.
This role will primarily focus on a varied patient demographic, including children with developmental delays, speech delays, articulation disorders, and adults recovering from neurological impairments such as strokes. By addressing these diverse needs, our speech therapist plays a crucial role in facilitating effective communication across all stages of life.
A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution is required.
Current and valid state license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist in New Jersey.
Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of speech and language disorders, along with applicable treatment methodologies and tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a healthcare and educational team.
Previous experience working in a school setting or with pediatric populations is preferred but not mandatory.
Hands-on experience with various speech therapy tools and technologies (such as speech-generating devices) is a plus.
