Work Environment

The Speech-Language Pathologist role is primarily an onsite position within a hospital setting designed to serve an assisted living community. You will be part of a dynamic healthcare team, collaborating closely with physical and occupational therapists, nursing staff, and physicians. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that our residents receive holistic and integrated care tailored to their unique needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders, ensuring accurate identification of challenges.
• Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized treatment plans based on the assessment findings, focusing on enhancing communication capabilities, swallowing safety, and cognitive functions.
• Provide targeted therapeutic interventions for conditions such as aphasia, dysphagia, cognitive decline, and voice disorders, utilizing evidence-based practices to achieve optimal results.
• Educate residents, caregivers, and family members on effective communication strategies and safe swallowing techniques, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to support their loved ones.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and consistent care, attending regular team meetings and contributing your specialized knowledge.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations, ensuring that all patient information is up-to-date and readily accessible.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily serve a geriatric population, many of whom are navigating the complexities associated with aging, including communication difficulties and swallowing disorders. Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program (CCC-SLP certification preferred).
• An active Oregon SLP license or eligibility to obtain one.
• Proficiency in evaluating and treating dysphagia and cognitive-communication disorders.
• Strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport and effectively communicate with residents and their families.

Preferred Experience

• At least 2 years of clinical experience, specifically working with geriatric populations.
• Certification in specialized therapies such as dysphagia therapy would be an advantage.
• Prior experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary team in a healthcare setting.

Compensation and Benefits
