Position Overview
The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for managing a group of projects, Lead PMs and support PMs. The goal is to ensure a long-lasting relationship with a customer who has multiple projects with LGVT. The Portfolio Manager also is responsible for mentoring, coaching, recommending promotions, mid-year and end-of year evaluations for their direct reports. This is an opportunity to contribute to the growth in North America and the expansion of the Project Management organization. This position reports to the Director of Project Management.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead battery storage system projects from initiation through installation, commissioning, and closeout.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Owns executive level relationships
- Drives customer centric culture within the executive team
- Establishes a trust relationship with their counterpart
- Can identify, and fill the gap in customer’s lack of experience
- Can drive the project for the customer when necessary
- Can handle negotiations independently
- Can address customer frustrations with minimal escalations.
- Consolidates a larger view on supplier risk/strategy to work as a team with them. Leads and contributes to strategic supplier reviews and discussions.
- Contract Management:
- Documents and suggests contract changes to better protect VT. Works with legal for contracting framework or process for scoring contracts"
- Leads high-value customer negotiations
- Project Controls (Financial and Schedule)
- Manage financial performance across projects
- Develop department wide initiatives to systematically increase revenue forecast accuracy.
- Owns executive level reporting
- Develops best practice contract methods to achieve financial results.
- Technical Design & Engineering Support:
- Can identify a technical risk, educate the engineering & software team on what our risk appetite is, and guide the technical decision that benefits the project & customer
- Commissioning:
- Strategically collaborates with the Commissioning Manager to continually improve PM/Cx practices based on team experience.
- Risk Management:
- Can see risks happening on other projects, and is proactively planning on how to mitigate them on current project
- Is seeing risk at a strategic or portfolio level
- Mentoring and Coaching
- Has weekly 1:1 with direct reports
- Conduct mid-year and end-year evaluations for direct reports
- Coach direct reports on strategy and provides support on issues
- Escalates, advocates and provides visibility to Director of PM on resource staffing or other critical technical issues
- Process Improvements:
- Active participant in strategically leading continuous improvement for Project Management processes. Identifying gaps and implementing best practices.

Education and Experience
- B.S. in Engineering or other technical discipline. Electrical Engineering a plus.
- PMP Certification or demonstrated competency in managing complex projects.
- Number of years of Experience Required: 10+ yrs.
- Project experience with electrical equipment or power/utility/renewables market is a plus.
Travel
- This position requires approximately 30% travel annually.
