Salary: $18.81-$22.55 hourly

AHCH provides a distinctive continuum of integrated care through outreach and site-based services to address the health-related causes and consequences of homelessness. This position is an on-site position and will move toward a hybrid position as the training and workload allows. The Front Desk Billing Specialist provides comprehensive billing support to the finance, operations, and provider functions of ACHC and works collaboratively with primary care; dental; and quality and compliance to ensure all patient information is accurately reflected in the electronic health record.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Focus on collecting required documentation from Patient Access Representatives and uploading into patient records in EMR system
  • Assist front desk staff with questions and/or concerns
  • Work closely with front desk coordinator and billing manager to identify areas that may need additional training
  • Reconcile encounters
  • Conduct any follow up to ensure claims are processed correctly and/or correct any edits needed in a timely manner
  • Identify accounts that need to be refunded and complete the appropriate paperwork to initiate refunds
  • Edit/Audit problems
  • Monitor A/R for inconsistent balances
  • May post payor payments if needed
  • Collect dental documentation and submit for prior authorization approval
  • Must comply with all AHCH policies and procedures


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Billing knowledge and experience in medical, dental, or behavioral health
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Works cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Working knowledge of electronic health record databases
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • High school diploma or equivalent


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Medical billing experience in a non-profit setting
  • Familiarity with dental and/or behavioral health billing
