Orca Bay Foods is seeking an organized, customer-focused Temporary Human Resources & Coordinator to support our Human Resources and Safety teams during a high-volume project period. This position will provide hands-on support with recruiting, onboarding, new hire orientation, employee records management, HR compliance, safety administration, and general HR operations.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, maintains strict confidentiality, enjoys working with people, and can effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Human Resources
- Coordinate the full onboarding process for new hires.
- Conduct new hire orientation and ensure completion of all required employment documentation.
- Prepare and process onboarding paperwork in compliance with federal, state, and company requirements.
- Maintain employee personnel files, both electronic and paper.
- Scan, organize, and upload personnel documents into the Paylocity Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
- Review employee files for completeness and follow up on outstanding documentation.
- Assist employees with HR-related questions and direct them to appropriate resources.
- Support HR audits and compliance initiatives.
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and other administrative documentation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and company information.
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Recruit, schedule, and interview candidates for hourly positions.
- Communicate with applicants throughout the hiring process.
- Prepare offer letters and onboarding materials.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements including, but not limited to, employment eligibility documentation.
- Schedule and facilitate new employee orientation.
- Ensure new hires are successfully onboarded into company systems.
Safety Support
- Assist with safety orientation for new employees.
- Assist with organizing safety meetings, training sessions, and compliance documentation.
- Support incident documentation and administrative follow-up.
- Assist with safety audits, inspections, and corrective action tracking.
- Support company safety initiatives and employee engagement programs.
Administrative Support
- Answer phones and assist visitors as needed.
- Provide administrative support to the HR and Safety departments.
- Assist with special projects and process improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Assignment Length: Approximately three months, with the potential for extension based on business needs.
Required
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Occupational Safety, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years of administrative, HR, recruiting, or safety support experience.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred
- Human Resources experience.
- Recruiting or talent acquisition experience.
- Experience conducting employee onboarding and orientation.
- Experience with Paylocity or another Human Resources Information System.
- Experience in food manufacturing, production, or industrial environments.
- Familiarity with OSHA recordkeeping and workplace safety administration.
Benefits:Salary Disclosure
The typical base pay range for this role is $30.00 - $33.50 per hour. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
