We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Human Resources Generalist to support our Baltimore, MD facility and Kelso Distribution Center operations. This role serves as a key business partner to site leadership and employees, providing comprehensive HR support across employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, payroll administration, benefits administration, compensation programs, compliance, and HR operations.
The ideal candidate will have prior warehouse or distribution center HR experience, strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices, and hands-on experience with Kronos workforce management systems. This position requires flexibility, as operations run 24/7 and occasional after-hours or weekend support may be needed.
Key ResponsibilitiesEmployee Relations & HR SupportFoster and maintain a positive, productive workplace culture.
Counsel employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
Partner with site leadership to resolve employee relations matters and support organizational objectives.
Assist the HR Manager with employee engagement initiatives and company-sponsored events.
Participate in facility meetings and maintain a visible presence throughout operations.
Serve as a trusted resource for employees and management regarding HR-related matters.
Identify staffing needs and coordinate recruitment efforts.
Manage job postings through the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and internal channels.
Develop relationships with colleges, trade schools, workforce agencies, and external recruiting resources.
Screen candidates, coordinate interviews, conduct reference checks, and facilitate hiring recommendations.
Manage the onboarding process to ensure a positive new-hire experience.
Coordinate system access, employee setup, orientation activities, and required documentation.
Process weekly payroll for Baltimore and Kelso facilities.
Maintain accurate employee records within HRIS, payroll, and workforce management systems.
Serve as the site subject matter expert (SME) for Kronos timekeeping and attendance management.
Audit time records and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Process employee status changes, personnel actions, and HR system updates.
Prepare and maintain HR reports, attendance tracking, and workforce metrics.
Support record retention and personnel file maintenance in accordance with company policies.
Administer employee benefits programs and assist employees with benefit-related questions.
Support Accident & Sickness plans and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) administration.
Coordinate uniform programs, safety shoe reimbursement programs, prescription safety glasses programs, and related employee initiatives.
Partner with employees and vendors to ensure timely and accurate benefits administration.
Assist with wage progression programs, annual compensation reviews, and bonus calculations.
Support payroll-related compensation activities and reporting.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Assist with policy administration, investigations, and HR compliance initiatives.
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field required.
35 years of Human Resources Generalist experience.
Previous experience supporting warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing, or logistics operations strongly preferred.
Experience processing payroll and managing employee timekeeping systems.
Hands-on experience with Kronos required.
Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR compliance.
Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
Experience managing multiple HR functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
Customer-service mindset with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Experience with HRIS, payroll, and workforce management systems.
Primary office hours are standard daytime business hours.
This is a salaried, exempt position.
Operations run 24 hours per day; therefore, candidates must be flexible and available to support occasional evening, weekend, and on-call needs as business demands require.
Occasional travel between company locations may be required.
Travel may occur via automobile or airline, depending on business needs.
Primarily office-based environment with regular interaction throughout warehouse and distribution operations.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.
Ability to occasionally lift and carry office materials and equipment.
Regular use of computers, printers, telephones, and other office equipment.
Prior warehouse, distribution center, or logistics industry HR experience.
Experience with Oracle HR systems.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
Experience supporting multi-site operations.
