Our organization is seeking to fill the position of LPN Nurse Educator in Cooperstown, NY.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate staff development and training initiatives by delivering education on safety protocols, body mechanics, infection control, hazardous materials, and other subjects mandated by NYSDOH and regulatory bodies.
- Support the orientation and onboarding processes for new employees, as well as ongoing educational programs.
- Guide and mentor nursing personnel to enhance clinical excellence and ensure adherence to regulations.
- Keep detailed records of educational activities, attendance, competencies, and completion of training.
- Provide updates on current projects and educational efforts on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Engage in QAPI meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and leadership team to plan, coordinate, and execute staff education programs.
- Assist in gathering data, conducting audits, and evaluating staff education and performance improvement efforts.
- Keep the Director of Nursing informed about educational activities, compliance issues, and training requirements.
- Maintain communication with employees on leave, disability, or workers' compensation as directed by leadership.
- Support employee health and safety training programs, including OSHA and infection prevention efforts.
- Review incident reports to identify areas for educational enhancement and process improvement.
- Assist with annual competency assessments and mandatory in-service training sessions.
- Administer TB tests and vaccinations within the scope of practice and under the guidance of the Director of Nursing, following facility policies and relevant regulations.
Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License.
- At least 3 years of nursing experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing environment.
- Prior experience in training, educating, or mentoring staff is preferred.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and organizational abilities.
- CPR Certification is required; CPR Instructor certification is preferred or a willingness to obtain it.
- Familiarity with long-term care regulations, infection control protocols, OSHA standards, and safety procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards.
