Position Overview

Empathy Medical Healthcare, LLC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) to join our dynamic team in Irvine, California, offering full-time telehealth services. In this remote role, you will be instrumental in providing much-needed mental health support to individuals, particularly focusing on those in crisis, including both arrestees and community members. You will have the opportunity to de-escalate mental health emergencies and develop tailored action plans to facilitate their recovery journey.

Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations in the field to assists law enforcement in determining the necessity for involuntary detentions under sections 5150 or 5585.
• Provide immediate, short-term crisis counseling to individuals experiencing non-violent psychiatric distress, ensuring comfort and safety during these challenging moments.
• Work collaboratively with law enforcement agencies to train officers in managing mental health crises, emphasizing de-escalation techniques that help mitigate potential conflicts and enhance patient care.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions and interventions, adhering to strict confidentiality guidelines to protect patient information.
• Effectively communicate with a broad range of stakeholders, including law enforcement officers, crisis support units, hospital staff, and psychiatrists to coordinate care and support for individuals in need.
• Accompany law enforcement during pertinent mental health responses, providing on-site assessments and recommendations for further care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily involves working with diverse patient populations, including individuals facing homelessness, mental health crises, and those affected by the criminal justice system. By utilizing telehealth solutions, you will reach clients from various cultural backgrounds and with different personal circumstances, allowing for a nuanced and empathetic approach to mental health care.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field; additional education or certifications in mental health counseling preferred.
• Active and valid Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
• Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high ethical standards in all professional interactions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and law enforcement personnel.
• Professional demeanor with a proactive, positive attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Preferred Experience

• Previous clinical experience, particularly in psychiatric settings or community mental health.
• Experience working with law enforcement or in crisis intervention roles is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary range of $52,000 to $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience, for a fulfilling part-time work schedule.
