Work Environment

The work setting for this role is within our state-of-the-art Outpatient Office, where you'll collaborate with a diverse multidisciplinary team consisting of trauma nurses, anesthesiologists, radiologists, and specialty surgeons. Our facility's resources include advanced imaging systems for accurate diagnosis, surgical suites equipped with the latest minimally invasive tools, and a dedicated trauma resuscitation area containing life support systems critical for immediate patient care. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of trauma patients to establish initial care plans and ensure appropriate surgical interventions.
• Perform a wide range of life-saving surgical procedures, including emergency laparotomy, thoracotomies, and complex orthopedic interventions.
• Take part in regular trauma rounds and case discussions, contributing your expertise to inform treatment approaches and enhance care delivery.
• Engage in multidisciplinary consultations with other medical experts to facilitate coordinated care and optimize patient recovery.
• Train and mentor surgical residents and junior medical staff to build a culture of learning and excellence within the trauma department.
• Participate in ongoing research initiatives aimed at improving trauma care practices and patient outcomes.
• Maintain an on-call status as scheduled, prepared to respond to trauma cases at all hours, providing the necessary emergency care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Trauma Surgeon at Unity Trauma Center, you will serve a diverse patient population, including both adults and children who have experienced traumatic injuries such as motor vehicle accidents, falls, gunshot wounds, and other severe injuries. Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited residency program in General Surgery.
• Current, unrestricted board certification in General Surgery.
• Fellowship training in Trauma Surgery or significant experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
• Demonstrated proficiency in performing complex trauma surgical procedures.
• Strong analytical and clinical judgment, with the ability to thrive under pressure.
• Outstanding communication skills to effectively collaborate with the healthcare team.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and contribution to the field of trauma surgery.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience working within a Level 1 Trauma Center, particularly in roles involving emergency and critical surgical care.
• Active involvement in peer-reviewed research or quality improvement initiatives related to trauma care.
• Leadership experience in clinical settings or participation in educational activities.

Compensation and Benefits
