This role typically involves a 40-50 hour work week, with opportunities to engage in an equitable on-call rotation, allowing for both comprehensive patient care and a work-life balance. Perform a variety of complex cardiovascular surgical procedures, including but not limited to coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement, thoracic aortic surgery, heart transplantation, and minimally invasive cardiac interventions.
Assess patient medical histories and conduct thorough physical examinations to establish the necessity for surgical intervention, ensuring a strong foundation for diagnosis.
Collaborate with referring physicians and cardiologists to maintain seamless communication and continuity of care for all patients.
Design individualized treatment plans encompassing preoperative, operative, and postoperative care protocols, tailored to meet each patient's unique needs.
Engage in clinical research and trials, contributing to advancements in cardiovascular surgery methodologies and technologies.
Mentor emerging medical professionals, including residents and fellows, fostering a collaborative culture of learning and development within our organization.
Work closely with a distinguished team of healthcare professionals, including anesthesiologists, nurses, and perfusionists, ensuring that all procedures are performed in a safe and effective manner.
You will be working with a diverse population of patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases, experiencing various complexities that require tailored surgical solutions. Your expertise will directly impact their quality of life, offering critical treatments that can alleviate suffering and improve overall health outcomes.
M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) or D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) degree with an active and valid medical license in New York State.
Completion of a residency program specifically in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in your field.
Substantial experience performing a comprehensive array of cardiovascular surgical procedures, showcasing your skills in high-risk and complex cases.
Demonstrated ability to handle intricate cases with exceptional surgical skills and precision.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
