Work Environment

The role is primarily onsite at our outpatient office, located in a vibrant area of Oakland, CA. Our surgical suites are fitted with minimally invasive tools and robotic-assisted platforms that help enhance surgical precision, while our trauma resuscitation area provides immediate, comprehensive life support for critically injured patients.

Key Responsibilities

As a Trauma Surgeon, you will:

• Deliver comprehensive trauma care through thorough initial assessments, emergency surgeries, and postoperative management, ensuring each patient receives the highest possible care throughout their entire treatment process.
• Conduct a range of life-saving surgical interventions, including emergency laparotomies and thoracotomies, while employing advanced techniques to improve patient outcomes.
• Work closely with anesthesiologists, trauma nurses, radiologists, and other specialists to coordinate effective, integrated treatment plans that optimize care delivery.
• Engage in trauma rounds and case discussions, providing valuable insights and guidance to colleagues, residents, and other medical personnel.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by spearheading research efforts, developing new protocols, and sharing best practices for trauma care with the entire team.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications

A successful candidate will possess:

• A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited residency program in General Surgery.
• An active and unrestricted board certification in General Surgery.
• Fellowship training in Trauma Surgery or extensive experience in a Level I Trauma Center.
• Demonstrated proficiency in performing trauma surgical procedures.
• Strong clinical judgment with the ability to make prompt decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to current trauma care guidelines.

Preferred Experience

Preferred candidates will have experience in a high-acuity trauma environment, familiarity with trauma protocols, and involvement in academic and research initiatives that enhance trauma care practices. Knowledge of innovative surgical techniques will be viewed favorably, as will participation in training programs for junior medical staff.
