Work Environment

This position is primarily onsite, allowing for direct interaction with residents and immediate collaboration with healthcare professionals. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, therapists, and social workers in a supportive and engaging atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations to assess residents' mental health conditions and create an accurate diagnosis.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that account for the complex health profiles typical in geriatric care.
• Manage medication regimens effectively, considering potential interactions and side effects specific to elderly patients.
• Collaborate with caregivers, nursing staff, and therapists to ensure comprehensive and seamless care for our residents.
• Provide psychoeducation to residents and their families, fostering understanding and support for mental health challenges.
• Participate in ongoing educational initiatives and training sessions focusing on best practices in geriatric psychiatry.

Qualifications

• Medical Doctor (MD) degree with specialization in Psychiatry from an accredited medical institution.
• Active and unrestricted psychiatric license in the state of Rhode Island.
• Demonstrated understanding of the mental health challenges prevalent among elderly individuals.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with residents and team members.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of one year of experience in geriatric psychiatry or a similar clinical setting is preferred.
• Experience in medication management specific to the elderly population and knowledge of common psychiatric medications.
• Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with elderly patients and their families, emphasizing empathy and understanding.

Compensation and Benefits
