Work Environment

This position is located onsite at our state-of-the-art hospital facility in Bluff City, AR. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will collaborate closely with nursing staff, caregivers, and therapists to ensure each resident receives holistic care. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to assess the mental health conditions of residents on admission and periodically thereafter.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that are adaptable to the often multifaceted conditions experienced by elderly patients.
• Manage medication regimens with great care to mitigate potential interactions and side effects, employing a thorough understanding of geriatric pharmacology.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, social workers, and physical therapists, to ensure all aspects of resident care are addressed.
• Provide psychoeducation regarding mental health, treatment options, and coping strategies to both residents and their families to foster understanding and engagement.
• Engage in professional development through ongoing education and training sessions focused on the latest best practices in geriatric psychiatry.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role specifically focuses on elderly patients experiencing a variety of mental health issues, including dementia, mood disorders, and end-of-life challenges. As a psychiatrist in our facility, you will be at the forefront of providing compassionate care to this vulnerable population, helping them to navigate their mental health journeys with dignity and respect.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Medical Doctor (MD) degree with a specialization in Psychiatry from an accredited medical institution.
• Current and active state licensure as a Psychiatrist in the State of Arkansas is a must.
• A strong background or demonstrated experience in geriatric psychiatry is preferred but not mandatory.
• Proven knowledge of the mental health issues faced by the elderly, especially regarding treatment modalities and medication management.
• Exceptional communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with both residents and healthcare staff.

Preferred Experience

While candidates with direct experience in geriatric psychiatry will be prioritized, we also welcome psychiatrists with a strong clinical background in mental health who are eager to specialize in the care of elderly patients. Experience working in a team-oriented healthcare setting will be highly regarded.

Compensation and Benefits
