Work Environment

The Geriatric Psychiatrist will work onsite at a state-of-the-art hospital facility dedicated to geriatric care. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations to assess residents' mental health conditions, ensuring comprehensive understanding of their unique challenges.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, addressing the complex needs of geriatric patients and adjusting as necessary based on their responses to treatment.
• Provide expert medication management, carefully considering potential interactions with other medications and tailoring prescriptions to ensure both safety and efficacy.
• Collaborate with a diverse team of caregivers and specialists to develop a comprehensive care strategy that encompasses physical, emotional, and psychological support.
• Offer supportive therapy, psychoeducation, and guidance to residents and their families, fostering a strong therapeutic alliance and promoting understanding of mental health issues.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with elderly residents who may be facing various mental health challenges, including dementia, mood disorders, or end-of-life issues. It is crucial to possess a strong understanding of the mental health complexities that accompany aging, as well as the empathy required to work with both patients and their families during potentially difficult times.

Qualifications

• Medical Doctor (MD) degree with a specialization in Psychiatry from an accredited medical school.
• Current state licensure as a Psychiatrist, ensuring active and unrestricted practice.
• Possession of a deep understanding of the psychiatric issues facing elderly populations.
• Demonstrated strength in communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to foster patient-centric care.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
