Work Environment

This position is onsite at our facility, emphasizing a thorough, in-person approach to mental health care, while also offering the integration of telehealth services as needed. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to accurately assess mental health conditions of residents, using both standardized assessments and personal interviews.
• Formulate and implement individualized treatment plans that address both immediate and long-term mental health needs, incorporating psychosocial factors relevant to geriatric care.
• Provide expert medication management, closely monitoring potential interactions with other prescriptions and understanding the nuances of pharmacotherapy in older adults.
• Work collaboratively with caregivers and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of integrated care that addresses both physical and emotional health.
• Engage in therapeutic interventions with residents, offering psychoeducation to both patients and their families to help navigate mental health challenges.
• Participate in ongoing education and training on the latest best practices in geriatric psychiatry to maintain a high standard of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role will be on elderly residents suffering from a wide range of mental health disorders, including but not limited to dementia-related conditions, mood disorders, and anxiety. You will also provide support for end-of-life mental health needs, ensuring that each individual receives compassionate care aligned with their personal values and wishes.

Qualifications

• Medical Doctor (MD) degree with a specialization in Psychiatry from an accredited institution.
• Current and unrestricted state licensure as a Psychiatrist.
• A strong understanding of the common mental health issues and treatment modalities specifically applicable to geriatric patients.
• Outstanding communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration with patients, family members, and healthcare staff.

Preferred Experience

• At least one year of experience in a geriatrics-focused psychiatry role or similar mental health setting is highly preferred.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems to accurately document patient care and treatment plans.

Compensation and Benefits
