Work Environment

This is an onsite full-time position based at our facility, complemented by our telehealth services to offer flexibility in patient care. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations to assess and diagnose mental health conditions in elderly residents, considering their unique medical histories and co-existing health issues.
• Develop, implement, and modify personalized treatment plans that address the complexities of geriatric mental health, ensuring alignment with residents' goals and needs.
• Engage in expert medication management, closely monitoring potential interactions among multiple prescriptions and adjusting dosages as necessary for optimal effectiveness and safety.
• Facilitate collaboration with caregivers, nursing staff, and therapists to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care for our residents, enhancing therapeutic outcomes.
• Provide supportive therapy, psychoeducation, and counseling to residents and their families, empowering them with knowledge and skills to navigate the challenges of mental health.
• Stay current with the latest geriatric psychiatry best practices by actively participating in ongoing education, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on elderly residents facing age-related psychiatric illnesses, including dementia, depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. You will play a crucial role in not only diagnosing and treating these conditions but also in advocating for the dignity and mental well-being of seniors during their most vulnerable times, especially concerning end-of-life issues.

Qualifications

• A Medical Doctor (MD) degree with a specialization in Psychiatry from an accredited institution.
• An active, unrestricted state licensure to practice as a Psychiatrist in Connecticut.
• A strong understanding of the unique mental health challenges associated with aging, along with appropriate resources for support and treatment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with residents, families, and healthcare staff.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in geriatric psychiatry or related settings is highly preferred, with familiarity in managing complex cases of senior mental health.
• A demonstrated commitment to continuing education in the fields of geriatric psychiatry and mental health care.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from USD 180,000 to 210,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
