Position Overview

Sunshine Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Therapist to provide trauma-focused therapeutic services in a remote setting. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in supporting clients on their healing journey by employing expertise in mental health counseling to foster resilience and recovery in those affected by trauma.

Work Environment

This role is a full-time position that offers the flexibility of a remote work setting, utilizing telehealth technologies to provide care. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate trauma histories, risks, and strengths, informing treatment strategies.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans with a clear focus on trauma recovery, utilizing modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions designed to help clients process traumatic experiences, cultivate coping mechanisms, and promote emotional healing.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care for clients, ensuring a holistic approach to health and well-being.
• Provide crisis intervention and immediate support for clients experiencing trauma-related emergencies, demonstrating a calm and composed demeanor.
• Educate clients and their families about trauma responses, healthy coping strategies, and available community resources.
• Maintain meticulous and confidential records in accordance with legal and ethical standards, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems where applicable.
• Participate in case consultations and interdisciplinary team meetings to enhance care strategies, share knowledge, and review treatment outcomes.
• Stay informed about the latest research, and continually develop skills related to trauma-informed care and therapeutic interventions.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary client population consists of individuals impacted by various forms of trauma, including but not limited to complex PTSD, domestic violence, childhood abuse, and assault. As part of our mission, we emphasize the importance of creating a trauma-informed environment that fosters trust, safety, and empowerment, allowing clients to navigate their healing process effectively.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in Texas.
• A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in the mental health field, with a focus on trauma-related disorders.
• In-depth understanding of trauma-informed treatment modalities and the psychological impact of trauma.
• Demonstrated ability to engage in trauma-focused interventions effectively.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, displaying compassion and understanding in all client interactions.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations, particularly during crisis intervention scenarios.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and digital communication platforms, ensuring smooth and effective documentation and client interaction.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a telehealth or remote counseling environment is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with culturally sensitive practices and approaches that cater to diverse populations.
• Further certifications in trauma-informed care or specific therapeutic modalities are advantageous but not mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 90,000 to 110,000, commensurate with experience. Additional benefits include:
