Work Environment

In this remote role, you will have the flexibility to conduct sessions via telehealth platforms, allowing you to reach seniors in their homes or residential care settings. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing a structured schedule that promotes stability in your daily routine.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly residents to accurately identify their specific care needs and develop effective intervention strategies.
• Facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions addressing various emotional challenges faced by seniors, including anxiety, depression, and grief associated with loss.
• Collaborate with a dedicated healthcare team, including physicians, social workers, and occupational therapists, to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to each resident's unique circumstances.
• Provide education and support to families and staff, equipping them with tools and strategies to enhance the emotional well-being of elderly individuals.
• Implement grief and loss counseling tailored to residents and their families, assisting them in navigating end-of-life issues sensitively and compassionately.
• Design and conduct cognitive stimulation programs and mental health interventions aimed at promoting mental acuity and overall well-being in elderly clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on seniors navigating complex emotional landscapes related to aging. This includes those experiencing grief from losing loved ones, adjusting to significant life transitions, or facing age-related health challenges. The ability to connect with this population compassionately and effectively is key to your success in this role, as you will play an integral part in fostering their mental health and quality of life.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience in geriatric counseling or mental health support, particularly with seniors facing addiction or emotional distress.
• Comprehensive understanding of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to the aging population.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with elderly clients and their families.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
