Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the unique needs and goals of clients seeking substance use disorder treatment.
• Create and implement tailored treatment plans that employ evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
• Provide individual counseling sessions, leveraging techniques such as motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy to guide clients through their recovery journey.
• Facilitate engaging group therapy sessions, fostering a supportive atmosphere that encourages shared experiences and healing.
• Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, addiction specialists, and other mental health professionals to coordinate care and improve client outcomes.
• Offer crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring clients feel supported during times of urgent need.
• Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery options, and available community resources to enhance their support systems.
• Maintain detailed and confidential documentation that adheres to legal and ethical standards.
• Actively engage in professional development activities and team meetings to stay current with best practices in addiction treatment.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with a diverse clientele impacted by substance use disorders. This includes individuals at various stages of recovery, from those seeking initial treatment to those in the later phases who require continued support. Your empathetic approach will help guide these individuals and their families through recovery and foster lasting change.

Qualifications

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in New York State.
• Proven understanding of substance use disorders, evidence-based treatment methodologies, and a recovery-oriented model of care.
• Experience in delivering both individual and group therapy in addiction treatment settings.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a warm, non-judgmental, and empathetic demeanor.
• A strong commitment to ethical guidelines, maintaining patient confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and familiarity with relevant computer applications.
• A capacity to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
