Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients, identifying the severity and nuances of their mood disorder symptoms, including those related to depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety.
• Collaborate with clients to formulate tailored treatment plans that reflect their unique needs, preferences, and therapeutic goals.
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to provide effective interventions that facilitate positive change.
• Educate clients and their families on mood disorders, treatment modalities, and self-care strategies, empowering them to take an active role in their mental health journey.
• Regularly monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes and proactive response to challenges.
• Engage actively with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic, integrated care for clients.
• Stay informed of the latest research in mood disorder treatment to continuously improve therapeutic approaches and efficacy.
• Maintain precise and confidential documentation of client interactions, assessments, and treatment plans adhering to legal and ethical standards.
• Participate in case consultations, team meetings, and ongoing training, fostering an atmosphere of shared learning and clinical excellence.
• Champion the de-stigmatization of mental health issues by advocating effectively for client needs at both individual and community levels.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on clients grappling with mood disorders, including but not limited to depression and anxiety. You will be working with a diverse clientele with a range of backgrounds and experiences, providing culturally competent care that respects individual differences. Your role is crucial in aiding clients in navigating their emotional challenges, fostering resilience, and achieving personal growth.

Qualifications

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Active and valid licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in New York State.
• Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic techniques specifically targeting mood disorders, with experience in CBT and DBT.
• Strong understanding of psychopharmacology to assist in treatment planning and collaboration with psychiatrists.
• Demonstrated history of successful outcomes in mental health therapy, particularly regarding mood disorders.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of establishing rapport with a broad spectrum of clients.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in an outpatient setting, providing therapy for mood disorders.
• Familiarity with virtual therapeutic modalities and remote client engagement practices.
