Key Responsibilities

• Encourage students to take an active role in their health management by educating them on self-care and available community resources.
• Conduct health assessments and provide both group and individual care that aligns with personalized care plan goals.
• Prescribe and manage medications, particularly focusing on joint pain relief and disability aids that enhance mobility.
• Review each patient's medical history thoroughly to understand their clinical background and tailor care accordingly.
• Guide students in best practices for foot care and general wellness, contributing to their overall health improvement.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays and ultrasounds to facilitate accurate diagnoses.
• Administer therapeutic and surgical treatments for lower extremity conditions when appropriate.
• Implement evidence-based decision-making strategies that respect patient choices and cultural backgrounds.
• Order physical and occupational therapies as necessary to support rehabilitation and recovery.
• Perform injections and other procedures as permitted and according to established protocols and your training.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Nurse Practitioner will primarily serve a diverse population of students ranging from kindergarten through high school. You will work with children and adolescents dealing with various health issues, including but not limited to sports injuries, chronic conditions like asthma, and urgent care needs. Your role is critical in promoting preventive health measures, educating students on maintaining healthy lifestyles, and managing acute health issues within the school setting.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Active Nurse Practitioner license and current ANCC or AANP board certification.
• Current CPR/BLS certification is required before the start date.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in an independent family practice, focusing on routine wellness care, chronic illness management, and urgent care scenarios.
• A Federal DEA number is preferred for expanded prescribing capabilities.
• Previous experience in school-based health services or pediatric care is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while adhering to state regulations relating to practice.
