Job Description
Job Summary:
The Occupational Registered Nurse provides medical care and assessments for Corning employees in line with illness or injury cases within the RN Scope of Practice. Responsibilities include evaluating health concerns, documenting clinical findings, implementing treatment plans, supporting absence management, and promoting workplace health and safety initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct medical assessments, take vital signs, and implement treatment plans
- Document and maintain employee medical records in compliance with OSHA or equivalent national regulations
- Ensure employee medical privacy and confidentiality
- Support medical emergency response programs on-site
- Provide guidance in disability management and coordinate with insurance, benefits, workers’ compensation, and company medical providers
- Manage absence and return-to-work cases via the PIIM program, ensuring safe work accommodations
- Track and manage FMLA requests in compliance with company and legal protocols
- Conduct regulatory surveillance exams as required by OSHA or equivalent standards
- Promote and participate in company health and safety programs (e.g., smoking cessation, flu shots, blood drives)
- Engage in pandemic preparedness and response planning
- Interact with external occupational health providers as needed
- Maintain and manage medical inventory
Required Skills:
- Minimum 5+ years as a Registered Nurse
- Experience in Occupational Health preferred
- Active, valid state RN license
- Current CPR certification
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and EMR systems
Preferred Skills:
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S)
- Experience in Emergency Room, ICU, or Med/Surg nursing
- Prior work experience in manufacturing or corporate health environments
- Creative approach to health and safety program development
Certifications:
RN License (Active and current)
CPR Certification
COHN/COHN-S (Preferred)
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
