Description
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing quality occupational therapy services to program children. develops the establishment of a quality classroom environment which considers each child's motor development and needs in accordance with Agency philosophy, policies and program performance standards, and individualized education plans.
Requirements:
- Conducts therapy treatments following IEP mandates.
- Maintains appropriate records to assess current progress of the specific IEP occupational objectives and disseminates information regarding child's progress to other members of the treatment team/staff.
- Creates behavior management systems and coordinates their use where appropriate.
- Tests performed are appropriate for presenting problems.
- Recommendations are appropriate for findings.
- Monitors and records student progress.
- Manages office space and equipment.
- Communicates and interacts with team members.
- Upon enrollment or intake, evaluates each child's occupational needs and ability in preparation for diagnostic planning.
- Responsible for reviewing material of incoming children and alerting appropriate staff to possible fine motor, gross motor and sensory disabilities.
- May undertake individual/group therapy with children in need of such treatment.
- Provides periodic in service training to staff on occupational disorders in children.
- Develops occupational curriculum materials and coordinates their use in delivery of occupational services.
Requirements
- Licensed Occupational Therapist.
- Experience with the population served preferred.
