Duration: 13 Weeks Job Description: Duties: The Pharmacist is responsible for managing and dispensing medications to incarcerated individuals in compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations. This role ensures safe, effective, and ethical pharmaceutical care within a correctional environment, supporting the health and well-being of the inmate population. Secure correctional facility environment. Requires adherence to strict security protocols and procedures.
Requirements Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
Licensure: Current and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of practice.
Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of clinical or institutional pharmacy experience (correctional healthcare experience preferred).
Skills: Strong knowledge of pharmacology, regulations, and controlled substance management; excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to work in a secure and structured environment.
Skills: - Medication Management: Accurately dispense prescribed medications to inmates and maintain proper inventory and storage of pharmaceuticals in accordance with DEA and state guidelines.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and facility policies, and maintain accurate records of prescriptions, controlled substances, and medication administration.
- Clinical Support: Provide drug information and guidance to healthcare staff, review medication orders for appropriateness, potential interactions, and contraindications.
- Patient Care: Counsel inmates on proper medication use when appropriate and monitor for adverse drug reactions and report as required.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and mental health professionals to optimize patient care
