ties:Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information,
etc.Collects and stores specimens in accordance with established proced
ures.Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as requ
ired.Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly nee
dles.Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test o
rder.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure 100% correct
ness.Package specimens for trans
port.Stores specimen samples according to the required temperature, and places sam
ples.
Qualific
ations:A High School Diploma or GED is re
quired.Minimum 2 to 5 years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric and capillary colle
ctions.
