We specialize in providing the full continuum of care from long term residents to community patients. This Physical Therapy Assistant position is on a Fulltime status.
SUMMARY:
Assists physical therapists in providing physical therapy services to residents/patients of this facility and the clients of contract facilities that have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities to Resident/Patients/Clients:
- Assists residents/patients/clients in restoring health, alleviating pain, and assessing impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes.
- Transports residents to and from treatment areas, lifting and transferring them according to positioning requirements
- Instruct, motivate, safeguard and assist patients/residents/clients as they practice exercises and functional activities
- Provides accurate and appropriate information to the supervising PT regarding the progress, goals and any changes to residents/patients/clients condition or function.
- Provides prevention and promotes health, wellness, and fitness.
- Interacts and practices in collaboration with the resident/patient/client, family, rehabilitation team, other healthcare professionals and staff.
- Follows the direction and supervision of the supervising physical therapist according to the APTA and Montana Physical Therapy Practice Guidelines.
- Performs post-employment physicals with new hired staff.
- Provides ongoing in-services to rehab team and staff, and CNA training
- Clean work area and check and store equipment after treatment
- Attends all appropriate meetings
Record Keeping/Training Opportunities:
- Completes and maintains necessary records
- Provides training and supervision in therapy techniques, and objectives for nursing and non-nursing staff with this facility and contract facilities.
- Advises on health risks in the workplace.
Safety:
- Follows safety policies of St. John's United.
- Identifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards
- Attends mandatory safety in-services

Employee Responsibilities:
- Follows policy and procedures on annual TB testing.
- Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations.
- Attends all mandatory in-services.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Rehab.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements: Must be a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Montana preferably with one to two years related experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires moderate physical work more than 50% of the time, including lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, walking, and bending for prolonged periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work involves some exposure to hazards, blood borne pathogens, or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Normal health care environment.
- Work involves exposure to plants and animals within the environment.
