Work Environment

The Surgical Center at Great Valley of Help Medical Center offers a fast-paced and collaborative atmosphere. As a physician assistant, you will work closely with orthopedic surgeons, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to deliver critical care. This onsite position entails a 40-hour workweek, primarily from Monday to Friday, beginning with a 5:00 PM shift. The team atmosphere fosters ongoing communication, education, and shared goals, creating a unified approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to trauma alerts, conducting thorough assessments of patients' conditions to determine the urgency of care.
• Stabilize patients with acute injuries, providing life-saving interventions when necessary and working quickly to prevent further deterioration.
• Assist in resuscitation efforts, collaborating with the trauma team to manage severe cases in emergency situations.
• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and interpret diagnostic results, ensuring accurate clinical evaluations.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by supervising physicians, while also monitoring patients for reactions or necessary adjustments in care.
• Assist in invasive procedures and manage wound care following surgical protocols, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.
• Educate patients and their families on trauma care, recovery expectations, and necessary follow-up treatment.
• Coordinate transfers of patients to appropriate care units or facilities, managing logistics and communications effectively.
• Provide pain management and monitor discomfort levels, advocating for patient comfort and responding to needs as they arise.
• Develop collaborative care plans with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and efficacy in patient treatment.
• Adhere to stringent infection control protocols, ensuring a safe environment for both patients and staff.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role focuses on individuals who require immediate and ongoing care for traumatic injuries, such as fractures, dislocations, and other orthopedic emergencies. You will interact with patients across varying demographics, making it essential to employ effective communication and empathy to address their unique needs and concerns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, along with the successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant in Pennsylvania.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• A minimum of one year of experience in emergency medicine or trauma settings is required.
• Thorough knowledge of trauma assessment, stabilization protocols, and trauma-specific medications.
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills, with an ability to handle urgent and complex patient scenarios.
• Proficiency in documenting patient care and managing electronic health record systems.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of fostering interprofessional collaboration.
• Willingness to engage in continuous learning and development to enhance personal and team skills in trauma care.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with trauma-related procedures and hands-on patient care is preferred.
• Familiarity with trauma-specific protocols and workflows to support efficient operations in an urgent care setting.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from USD 140,000 to USD 180,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
