Position Overview

Vital City Med is seeking a dedicated and passionate Surgical Physician Assistant to join our team in Pasadena, Texas. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with surgeons in all facets of surgical care, from pre-operative assessments to post-operative management.
• Assist during surgical procedures, performing tasks such as suturing, tissue manipulation, and managing equipment in the operating room.
• Conduct daily rounds to monitor patient progress, update treatment plans, and ensure continuity of care.
• Write and manage patient orders, facilitating the admissions and discharges of patients efficiently.
• Provide thorough pre- and post-operative education to patients and their families, addressing concerns and ensuring informed consent.
• Participate in consults in the Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit, providing expert opinions on surgical cases.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Surgical Physician Assistant will care for an extensive range of patients, from pediatric to geriatric populations, addressing various surgical needs. This includes elective procedures, emergency interventions, and the management of post-operative complications. Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies is required.
• Must hold Board Certification as a Physician Assistant and possess current state licensure.
• A DEA license is necessary to prescribe medications.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2-3 years of advanced practice experience in surgery or hospital medicine is preferred, with experience as a first assistant in laparoscopic and robotic surgeries valued.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems to enhance efficiency in patient documentation and care coordination.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers an attractive salary range of USD 140,000 to 180,000 per year, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. We provide financial support for licensure and certification renewals, and assistance for DEA application costs.
