Island Immediate Care Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner for our urgent care clinic located in the vibrant city of Buffalo, New York. Work Environment

Our onsite urgent care facility is equipped with advanced technology and a custom electronic health record (EHR) system designed to enhance communication and reduce administrative burdens. This allows our healthcare professionals to devote more time to patient interaction and care. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough physical examinations and health assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of acute medical conditions.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including X-rays, lab results, and EKGs, to inform patient care.
• Triage and manage patient flow efficiently to minimize waiting times while maintaining high standards of care.
• Administer digital blocks and regional anesthesia as required.
• Perform minor surgical procedures such as wound closures, incisions and drainage (I&D), and foreign body removals.
• Carry out therapeutic actions, including joint aspirations and injections for cysts and bursas.
• Initiate IV fluid therapy and manage patient hydration needs.
• Execute closed reductions for simple fractures and dislocations, including maneuvering nursemaid's elbow reductions.
• Apply and modify orthopedic appliances, including braces and splints, to facilitate patient recovery.
• Oversee daily operational tasks, including managing patient callbacks and reviewing lab results, to ensure optimal clinic efficiency.
• Act as a mentor and leader, providing oversight and guidance to other advanced practice clinicians working within the care team.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our clinic serves a diverse patient population, accommodating individuals of all ages from children to seniors. This role requires a strong commitment to empathetic and personalized care, as we aim to treat a wide spectrum of acute illnesses and minor injuries, ensuring that each patient receives tailored attention that enhances their wellbeing.

Qualifications

• A valid New York state license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner with national certification.
• A current and unrestricted medical license, along with a controlled substance license.
• Minimum one year of clinical experience in an urgent care or similar environment.
• Ability to work two full weekends per month for our full-time staff, ensuring availability during peak operational times.
• An appropriate educational background, including a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a Bachelor’s/ Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Possession of an active DEA number.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working in an urgent care, emergency room, or similar healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest levels of patient care.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to foster a positive working relationship with patients and colleagues alike.
