Gracious Health Medical Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Physician Assistant to join our dynamic Liver Transplant team. This full-time, onsite position offers the unique opportunity to work within both inpatient and outpatient settings, including operating room (OR) involvement. Work Environment

The work setting combines an energetic hospital environment with a collaborative team approach. You will work alongside attending physicians, fellows, and surgical teams who are passionate about liver care. The role spans a 5-day work week, with 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday. On-call responsibilities will include participating in urgent procedures and supporting surgical operations as required. Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients with acute and chronic liver-related health issues, ensuring comprehensive care and maintenance.
• Conduct thorough history taking and perform detailed physical examinations, assessing normal and abnormal findings for both new and returning patients.
• Order, perform, and assess necessary diagnostic tests and procedures to inform treatment plans.
• Administer medications under established protocols and facilitate prescription transmission as required, particularly for controlled substances with approval from supervising physicians.
• Order and collect routine laboratory specimens and manage related therapeutic procedures.
• Coordinate rehabilitation services like physical therapy and respiratory care to optimize patient recovery.
• Engage in surgical assistance as trained, acting as first or second assistant during liver transplant surgeries and other related procedures.
• Facilitate patient admissions and discharges, ensuring all requisite documentation is completed efficiently and accurately.
• Enroll qualified patients in approved investigational studies, following all Institutional Review Board (IRB) guidelines.
• Recognize and promptly address urgent medical needs, initiating life-saving interventions as necessary.
• Coordinate care across inpatient and outpatient settings, enhancing continuity and quality of care for all patients.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to continuously elevate standards of care.
• Provide comprehensive patient education, counseling, and follow-up support to ensure understanding of treatment plans and health maintenance.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.
• Current PA license in Texas.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.

Preferred Experience

A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a medical setting is required, with preference for candidates who have experience specifically in surgical or transplant settings. Familiarity with healthcare regulations, compliance issues, and a commitment to quality improvement initiatives will be beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers an attractive salary range of USD 140,000 to 180,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
