Work Environment

This position is structured around a full-time schedule, operating Monday through Friday, eight hours a day, ensuring a balanced work-life dynamic. The orthopedic PA will work onsite in a hospital, engaging directly with patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our facilities are equipped with the latest medical technology and resources to facilitate a comprehensive approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide advanced practitioner care to orthopedic patients under the supervision of a specialty physician, including offering diagnostic, therapeutic, procedural, and preventative care.
• Conduct thorough examinations, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans based on clinical assessments, interpreting radiology reports and lab results as needed.
• Gather patient histories, write prescriptions, and order necessary therapies, fostering a proactive approach to patient management.
• Assist in various surgical procedures under the supervision of the attending orthopedic surgeon, contributing to a streamlined surgical experience.
• Deliver comprehensive patient management, which encompasses inpatient services, consultations, pre-procedure evaluations, procedural care, and post-operative follow-up in both hospital and outpatient clinic environments.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily serves a diverse patient population with various orthopedic conditions, ranging from sports injuries to chronic musculoskeletal issues. The ideal PA will demonstrate compassion and effective communication skills to ensure that patients feel supported throughout their healthcare journey, from diagnosis through recovery.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Physician Assistant, with recent clinical experience in orthopedic specialty care.
• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program with a master’s degree or a PhD.
• A state license as a Physician Assistant and national certification.
• DEA Certificate to be obtained within three (3) months of hire.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong capacity for clinical judgment.
• Self-directed with strong organizational abilities to effectively function in an independent role.
• Ability to work flexible hours and cope with stress in high-pressure situations.
• Physical capabilities to lift up to 25 pounds and perform necessary tasks for patient care.

Preferred Experience

• Recent clinical experience in orthopedic procedures and management of urgent referrals.
• Experience in wound care and a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
• Ability to assist in surgical operations and adapt to the dynamic needs of the orthopedic department.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from $140,000 to $180,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
