Vital City Med is seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Physician Assistant to join our dynamic surgical team in Killeen, Texas. In this full-time position, you will actively participate in the comprehensive management of patients undergoing surgical procedures, spanning pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care. Key Responsibilities

• Under the guidance of a supervising physician, you will function as an independent healthcare provider, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care in surgical and clinical settings.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate health conditions and develop personalized treatment plans, setting short and long-term health goals.
• Participate in daily rounding, performing tasks such as writing medication orders, facilitating hospital admissions and discharges, and providing vital pre-operative and post-operative education to patients.
• Assist in the operating room (OR) during surgical procedures, performing minor surgical tasks and serving as a first assistant in laparoscopy and robotic surgeries.
• Conduct emergency department (ED) and critical care unit (CCU) consultations, as well as ongoing clinic care post-surgery, ensuring continuity of patient care.
• Exercise critical thinking and clinical judgment to maintain accurate patient records and documentation, adhering to institutional policies and regulatory guidelines.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The Physician Assistant will work with a diverse patient population, providing care for individuals of all ages requiring surgical intervention. This includes managing acute conditions and supporting long-term recovery efforts. Your clinical expertise and empathic approach will play a crucial role in ensuring that our patients receive not only effective medical treatment, but also the information and emotional support they need at every stage of their surgical journey.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
• Board certification as a Physician Assistant is required.
• Active state licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant within Texas.
• Current DEA License and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification must be obtained within the first 12 months of hire.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of two to three years of advanced practice experience in surgical and hospital medicine, including hands-on experience as a first assistant in robotic and laparoscopic surgeries, is highly regarded.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems to ensure efficient patient documentation and communication.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience. As a full-time employee, you will also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, which includes health insurance, paid time off, and continuing education allowances.
