The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes (BDC) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Campus is seeking an Instructor of Clinical Practice (Advanced Practice Provider - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to provide diabetes care in the BDC Pediatric Division. The patient population is primarily newly diagnosed and established children, adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes. The successful candidate will provide clinical care for BDC patients in the Pediatric clinic. The candidate will also be working with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, APP's, nurse educators, dietitians, and clinical social workers. Typical hours are Monday-Friday based on clinic appointments with some on call responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include providing diabetes care to newly diagnosed and established children, adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes, phone consultations with patients and other APPs/physicians in the community, timely documentation in the electronic medical record, educating patients and families in diabetes management, maintaining the high standards of the existing diabetes program, and participation in student, resident, and fellow education.
The role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
The BDC is the largest diabetes institute in the world specializing in type 1 diabetes research and care for children and adults. The Center provides state-of-the-art diabetes care to over 7,000 children and adults with diabetes as well as inpatient care at the Children's Hospital Colorado. The dedicated Children's Diabetes Foundation has generously supported the BDC mission since 1977. The BDC Pediatric Diabetes Division provides families and patients with an understanding of type 1 diabetes and encourages their confidence in its day-to-day management.

Minimum qualifications include a master's degree in nursing or physician assistant studies, or related field from an accredited institution, current certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, licensure or in the process of becoming licensed in the state of Colorado, and one or more years of clinical experience. Preferred qualifications include previous clinical experience in type 1 diabetes, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification, and bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.

The starting salary range for this position has been established at a fixed salary plus the possibility of incentives based on clinical productivity. $95,000 - $110,000.
