Job Description
ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE
The Physician, Pediatrics works to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare (NHC) by providing excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will provide comprehensive podiatric medical services to patients. In addition, this role will educate and promote healthy choices to patients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs examinations, reviews patient x-rays, and analyzes medical laboratory tests to determine patient foot diagnosis’
- Reviews and documents patient medical histories to evaluate the condition of their feet, ankles, or lower legs
- Orders and executes various tests and analyses diagnostic images to gather more information to better understand patient conditions
- Documents patient visits, including medical histories, physical exams, diagnoses, and plans of action
- Prescribes and fits prosthetic appliances to improve patient mobility, such as shoe inserts
- Prescribes medication for feet conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, heel stresses, and athlete’s foot
- Refers patients to other specialists to treat underlying conditions, such as diabetes or arthritis
- Determines and prescribes medications, dosages, and schedules given patient conditions and allergies
- Discusses potential side effects to medications or immunizations with patients
- Monitors the recovery progress of patients to determine the need for changes in treatments
- Advises patients on ways to increase speed of recovery and prevent future leg problems
- Promotes health by advising patients about diets, hygiene, and methods for prevention of diseases
- Performs surgical procedures corresponding with surgical competencies, when appropriate for specialty and training
- Follows up with patients regarding progress in high risk or emergency cases
- Impacts patient experiences by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy
- Shares accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination with care teams
- Keeps informed of organizational activities and promotes goals
- Operates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholders
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Doctorate in podiatric medicine is required
- California Doctor of Podiatric Medical license in good standing is required
- Valid DEA and CPR certification is required
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Knowledgeable about and experience with podiatric medicine
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent planning and organizational ability
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/carry 10 lbs/weight
- Ability to stand for long periods of time

- Be familiar with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits

- Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations
