Position Overview:

The Revenue Cycle Specialist will serve as a resource to support various areas of the revenue cycle to cover for team members and provide revenue cycle financial and trend analysis work. The position could perform in the various roles including but not limited to: Registration/Scheduling, Pre-Services, Insurance Verification, Billing and Collections, Payment Posting, and Charge Capture to cover staffing needs within the revenue cycle.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Specific job duties may include one or more of the following: scheduling appointments, pre-registration of patients prior to service and registration of patients; answering inbound inquiries and issues regarding patient account statements (explanation of benefits, balance due, and other insurance billing scenarios); sending out claims and patient statements for reimbursement; claim follow up; payment posting; charge entry and correction; credit balance review and processing.
  • Other duties include financial and trend analysis work; payment monitoring; data collection to support process improvements, reconciliations of cash accounts; trend analysis of account receivables; and denials review and resolution when not floating to other revenue cycle positions.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

    Skills and Experience:

    Required:

    • Strong teamwork skills with 5 years revenue cycle experience or post high school degree in accounting, healthcare administration, or business-related field
    • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to analyze data, perform multiple tasks, and work independently in a busy work environment
    • Must be able to develop and maintain professional, service-oriented working relationships with patients, physicians, co-workers, and supervisors
    • Must be able to understand and comply with policies and procedures

    Preferred:

    • Knowledge and experience with lean process improvement tools and techniques
    • Previous knowledge of Cerner scheduling, registration, and/or patient accounting systems
