Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Psychosocial Assessment: Conduct timely assessments that apply theoretical knowledge of human behavior, explore psychosocial factors influencing treatment outcomes, and evaluate potential ethical and risk issues.
• Clinical Intervention: Provide supportive counseling to patients and families, facilitate referrals to community resources, lead family conferences, and assist families in navigating challenging decisions related to health and well-being.
• Triage and Caseload Management: Identify high-risk situations, effectively manage your caseload, and balance ongoing patient care with referrals and admissions, requesting assistance from team members when necessary.
• Legal and Ethical Standards: Ensure adherence to legal guidelines and ethical practices in all interactions, including reporting suspected abuse and maintaining patient rights.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records as per policy, including progress notes and interdisciplinary plans, to ensure continuity of care.
• Training and In-Service: Deliver educational sessions for other hospital staff regarding psychosocial issues impacting patient care, fostering awareness and understanding.
• Quality Improvement: Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care, contributing to the development and analysis of quality indicators.
• Competency Maintenance: Stay up-to-date with hospital standards and competencies related to your role and patient demographics.
• Additional Duties: Engage in special activities, including Social Work Month events and cancer support groups, as assigned.

You will primarily serve the student population within schools, addressing a myriad of challenges ranging from behavioral issues to family dynamics, and emotional distress. Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience in a medical setting, with at least 1 year in a cancer care environment preferred.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Commitment to excellence in customer service and patient care.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in school-based social work or with adolescent populations.
• Familiarity with community resources and support systems relevant to children and families.
• Background in facilitating group therapy or educational programs.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is USD $120,000 to $130,000.
