Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify patients' needs, examining their emotional health, social supports, and the resources available to them.
• Provide supportive counseling to patients and their families from the moment of diagnosis, continuing through treatment and beyond, helping to minimize stress and enhance coping mechanisms.
• Respond to crises with immediate, short-term counseling interventions, ensuring patients and families feel supported during times of acute emotional distress.
• Facilitate connections to community resources, helping patients and families access essential services that foster their ongoing emotional and social well-being.
• Uphold the organization’s Code of Conduct and compliance policies, addressing any concerns promptly and ethically in accordance with our dedication to best practices.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and to advocate for the psychosocial needs of patients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on cancer patients and their families, including individuals facing various stages of cancer treatment. You will address the unique psychological challenges that this vulnerable population experiences, offering specialized support tailored to their individual needs.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution is required.
• A valid LCSW license in the state of California is mandatory.
• A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a social work setting, preferably with a focus on oncology or mental health.
• Demonstrated strong clinical and diagnostic skills, coupled with a deep understanding of behavioral health issues.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with diverse populations.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team in a remote setting.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience providing psychosocial support to cancer patients or in hospice care is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote counseling techniques.

Compensation and Benefits
