Work Environment

This role can be performed remotely, allowing for flexibility while actively engaging with young clients in a virtual school environment. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of clients’ mental health status through interviews, questionnaires, and observations to develop individualized treatment plans.
• Create and implement a comprehensive course of therapy tailored to each student’s unique needs, using evidenced-based methods and theoretical frameworks.
• Foster therapeutic relationships by meeting regularly with students, guiding them through their challenges, and providing them with coping strategies and tools for improvement.
• Coordinate care and make referrals to other healthcare professionals, such as psychiatrists, when appropriate for a multidisciplinary approach to mental health.
• Document all patient interactions meticulously in electronic health record (EHR) systems to ensure continuity of care and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The ideal counselor will work primarily with children and adolescents experiencing various mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and eating disorders. Understanding the unique challenges faced by this age group, the counselor will incorporate age-appropriate communication and interventions that resonate with younger clients and their families.

Qualifications

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid licensure as an LCMFT, LCPC, LCSW, LSCSW, or LCP in the state of Kansas.
• A minimum of four years of relevant clinical experience in mental health counseling.
• A profound understanding of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment models with an emphasis on cultural competence in all therapeutic interactions.
• Proven ability to deliver both individual and group therapy with a focus on inclusivity, ensuring that diverse backgrounds are honored and respected.

Preferred Experience

• Demonstrated experience in a school-based mental health setting, engaging with students, teachers, and school counselors.
• Exemplified skills in crisis intervention, showcasing the ability to handle urgent situations effectively and with emotional intelligence.
• Skilled in using digital healthcare tools, including EHR systems and teletherapy platforms.

Compensation and Benefits
