Work Environment

This position is designed as a remote role, allowing for flexible work arrangements that cater to the dynamic needs of our clients. While your primary function will be from home, you will occasionally need to travel to local schools to conduct in-person assessments and meetings, ensuring you maintain a personal connection with students and families. The typical work hours are from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional evening or weekend hours as dictated by client needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments of students' psychosocial needs, identifying emotional, mental, and social factors affecting their academic performance and well-being.
• Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with students and their families, aligning interventions with their unique goals and preferences.
• Provide counseling and emotional support tailored to help students manage life transitions, such as those related to academic stress, family issues, or other personal challenges.
• Advocate for the rights of students and ensure they have access to necessary community resources and educational support services.
• Work in conjunction with teachers, school counselors, and other professionals to coordinate services and enhance the overall educational experience for students.
• Conduct regular check-ins with clients to monitor their progress and address any emerging concerns, ensuring that they receive continuous support.
• Facilitate communication among family members, fostering conflict resolution and effective collaboration in the management of each student’s care.
• Educate families about available programs, resources, and support networks that promote student engagement and well-being.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of client assessments, treatment plans, and service delivery, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and state regulations.
• Stay informed about evolving social work practices, ethical standards, and community resources to enhance service delivery and professional competence.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on students within the school system, including those experiencing various emotional and social challenges that may impact their academic success and personal development. You will also work collaboratively with their families to address broader psychosocial issues, ensuring a comprehensive approach to well-being.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid state licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).
• Minimum of two years of experience in a social work role, ideally within educational or community settings focusing on youth and families.
• Extensive knowledge of social work principles, including those relating to child development, mental health, and community resources.
• Exceptional counseling, assessment, and critical thinking skills necessary for navigating complex client needs.
• The capacity to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and cultural competence when working with diverse populations.
• Strong interpersonal skills that foster effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and relevant computer applications.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working within school environments or with youth populations may be preferred, showcasing an understanding of educational systems and student needs.
• Familiarity with community resources and social services available to students and families in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges from $60,000 to $100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
