Work Setting: Orthopedic Outpatient
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM

Compensation: $180,000.00 - $200,000 per year + benefits 

We’re now seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our dynamic outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation team.

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders related to orthopedic conditions or surgeries. This includes patients recovering from spinal surgery, joint replacements, traumatic injuries, and neurological conditions that impact their ability to communicate, eat, or process information effectively.

You will work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment with physical therapists, occupational therapists, orthopedic specialists, and physicians to develop personalized therapy plans and provide effective interventions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for speech, language, cognition, and swallowing issues in patients recovering from orthopedic conditions and surgeries.
  • Utilize both standard and advanced diagnostic tools to assess communication and swallowing disorders related to musculoskeletal and neurological impairments.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Provide therapeutic exercises and techniques to improve speech clarity, cognitive function, and swallowing safety.
  • Collaborate with other rehab professionals to develop holistic care plans that integrate speech therapy with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other aspects of orthopedic rehabilitation.
  • Educate patients and their families on techniques to enhance communication, improve cognitive function, and prevent swallowing difficulties.
  • Instruct patients on safe eating and drinking strategies to reduce the risk of aspiration and enhance swallowing function.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid Oregon Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in outpatient rehabilitation or orthopedic settings preferred.
  • Experience treating swallowing disorders (dysphagia) and cognitive-communication disorders related to neurological or orthopedic conditions.
  • Strong understanding of musculoskeletal rehabilitation and its intersection with speech therapy.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts to patients and their families.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
