Role will support strength and conditioning program at Denmark High School as well as performance sports training at Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine center as well. Hours may vary but typically include after school/evening hours 1-8:30 Mon-Thur and 12-7pm on Fridays during the school year, and morning times during the summer.
Major Responsibilities:
- Implements and trains athletes in a formal training sequence which includes: Education on Aurora's sports training program and its potential benefits, demonstration to new/potential athletes on the program and program benefits, pre-testing of athletes to determine their pre-training condition, designing program according to results and on an individual basis, conducting appropriate post-tests to determine progress made as a result of the training program.
- Educates athletes on the maintenance of results through continued training.
- Conducts random screenings to ensure best athletic outcomes from training. Enters pre-testing and post-testing data into the system to track each athlete's progress.
- Evaluates any injuries occurring during training, evaluates/treats or refers out as necessary.
- Recruits new athletes and targets specific populations of interests.
- Works in conjunction with marketing and program management as necessary to effectively and efficiently market Aurora's sports training programs.
- Responsible for tracking the number of current and new athletes in the program.
- Assists management's tracking of revenues in relationship to program costs by running all required reports.
- Assists and contributes to the development of new sports training programs.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- A valid driver's license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providerscertification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, or
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Science or related field.
Experience Required:
- No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Experienced working with a wide array of athletes and various sports.
- Demonstrates ability to work on a multidisciplinary team in order to effectively train and understand the needs and limitations of the various levels of athletes.
- Demonstrates the ability to independently make sound decisions regarding problems or training issues.
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as organizational skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must have ability to work flexible schedule and in an environment that varies from office to outside temperatures of 0 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Must have ability to travel locally and will therefore be exposed to normal road hazards.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Lift up to 10 lbs. from waist to overhead.
- Lift and carry up to 40 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance.
- Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- Must be able to operate all equipment necessary to perform the duties of the job.
- Must have functional use of senses to effectively evaluate individuals and communicate to peers.
- Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids, therefore, must have ability to wear protective clothing as needed.
