Job Description

Job Summary:
The staff pharmacists prepare and dispense medications, maintain the medication inventory, and maintain patient records. The staff pharmacists fill orders for parenteral medications, monitor medication therapies, and provide medication information. Staff pharmacists supervise and direct support personnel. The staff pharmacists will provide clinical services, i.e., renal dosing, pharmacokinetics, etc. as directed by the pharmacy manager and/or clinical coordinator. In the absence of the pharmacy manager. A staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the pharmacy manager. Works all shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Supervises (Positions):
Pharmacy technicians, support personnel, students, and volunteers.

Education:
Required:
Minimum necessary to obtain license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina.

Experience:
Required:

Preferred:
Minimum 1 year hospital pharmacy experience or completion of ambulatory care residency

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
Must have a current license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina or be eligible to obtain one prior to employment. Employees are expected to obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification as required by business needs, as directed by department leadership.
