Full-Time Physician Assistant needed at our Outpatient Orthopedics Clinic in Oyster Bay, NY.

Our Physician Assistant will work under the supervision and direction of the Orthopedic Arthroplasty Service Physician Chief and Arthroplasty Administrative Manager practicing in accordance with the rules, regulations, and standards issued by the state and federal governing boards, including the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant.

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

Responsibilities

• Providing care for a high-volume arthroplasty patient population in the outpatient setting, including independent clinics

• Performing complete histories and physical examinations on new, established, pre-op, and post-op patients

• Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests

• Developing appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings

• Coordinating care along the patient’s entire surgical journey (pre-op, post-op, recovery/rehab, and implant surveillance)

• Consulting with supervising physicians/other Arthroplasty surgeons regarding abnormal findings outside the PA’s scope of practice

• Optimizing patients prior to surgery and first assisting in the OR

• Prescribing medications and narcotics as necessary according to organizational and state/federal regulatory policies and procedures

• Initiating consultations and referrals for patients

• Managing a high volume of patient calls, Patient Gateway messages, and emails and completing all outpatient clinical forms (FMLA, insurance disability, hardship needs)

• Consistently providing high-quality and timely documentation of clinic visits, admission and progress notes, procedure notes, and e-mail/phone conversations

• Contributing to patient presentation in the clinic, weekly indications conferences, and multi-disciplinary meetings/conferences as necessary

• Identifying patients appropriate for division research studies and obtaining consent after completion of the institution’s Citi Training

• Providing patient-family teaching

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree and graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program

• Certificate of registration from the Board of Registration of Physician Assistants

• DEA Registration and State Controlled Substance Registration

• CPR (BLS) certification

• Two years of Orthopedic surgery experience preferred

$140,000-$180,000 per year (based on experience) + Full Benefits
