Physician Assistant for Full-Time position needed at Grand Medical Center in Babylon, NY.


We are seeking a Physician Assistant to join our team in the Department of Urology, intended to partner with the physicians to provide a quality continuum of care to patients with Urologic diseases. Patients in the practice are drawn from local, national, and international locales and often require coordination of multidisciplinary care.

The Physician Assistant (PA) is an independent healthcare provider working cooperatively within a OPD multi-disciplinary health team and is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients. This position will assist with important clinical trials aiming to study transrectal versus transperineal prostate biopsy. This will involve helping recruit, consent, and follow-up subjects as well as data processing and analysis.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:30 A.M - 5:00 P.M

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for complex, standardized, patient care procedures, including interviewing patients, taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, ordering laboratory tests, making tentative diagnoses, and prescribing appropriate treatments.

  • Educates patients and or their families in order to promote wellness, prevent health problems, maintain current health, and intervene in acute or chronic illness.

  • Prescribe and regulate medications per provider-Physician institutional agreements.

  • Record and document health assessment data necessary to maintain, coordinate, and/or expedite required services.

  • Ensure patient and physician calls are returned in a timely manner and all patient interactions (phone, conversations, visits, etc) are documented appropriately.

  • Function as liaison between the urology team and primary care providers, nurse case managers, inpatient personnel, and health care professionals in other specialties.

  • Triage phone calls, and answer questions from patients including instructions, medications, refills, biopsies, test results, and other aspects of clinical care.

  • Call patients with results according to protocol.

  • Acts in the role of mentor and/or consultant to nurses, physicians, students, and other health care professionals.

  • Assume responsibility for own professional development and remains current in clinical practice by attending relevant continuing education, manage-operate an independent clinic, providing intervention as needed, and triaging complex cases appropriately.

  • Coordinate scheduling of complicated patient treatment.

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for time management professional relationships and interpersonal interactions.

  • Regularly attend all outpatient clinics.

  • Assist physicians with patient management in the clinic. Manage/operate independent clinics.

  • Assess and/or manage follow-up plans specific to the patient's needs. Records and documents of health assessment data are necessary.

  • Maintains, coordinates, and expedites required services.

  • Consistently requests consultations with appropriate departments when necessary.

  • Works collaboratively and provides leadership to optimize team performance and patient outcomes.

  • Design/develop research protocols, develop SOP, and oversee study-related activities for one or more studies.

  • Adheres to Hospital policies and procedures.

  • Adheres to Clinical Operations Group Service Standards.

  • Performs other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Completion of a Certified Physician Assistant program.

  • Must be licensed as Physician Assistant in the State Experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree, to the extent permitted by the equivalency formula. Current CPR certification is required.

  • Must maintain current licensure and certification during the duration of employment.

  • Ability to move standard equipment through a hospital or clinical environment.

  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Ability to stand, walk or sit for an extended period of time.


SALARY:

$140,000-$180,000 per year (based on experience) + Full Benefits
